Rosa Maria Letayf, and the gesture of painting.

The pictorial work of Rosa Maria Letayf has a plural content in the field of abstraction. If we look at the ten pieces presented in this sample, we observe different poetics that advice us of the exploration of the author on topics and plastic speeches linked to the non-figurative field, and show us the influences received from such movements as the Abstract Expressionism, European Informalism, and authors of the relevance of Yves Klein and Miguel Barceló.

When we observe the work of Rosa Maria Letayf we can see different metaphors which are associated with plastic series that in themselves find their meaning. We are taken by surprise in front of a series of messages that emerge in one though the gesture of painting.

Gesture Painting…

The painter shows herself in dissimilar ways and gives us a remarkable thematic diversity… that includes series as: A Glance to the Desert in which a diffuse landscape dominates, featuring shades of ochre, with horizontal lines in burned red; it is a narrative associated with the idea of a landscape that suggest a timelessness atmosphere through the color palette. It thus builds a silent universe of textures and colors that evokes the image of the desert.

Another series that stands out is Tribute to Yves Klein; using blue as the protagonist color, it consists in two pieces in which we appreciate the audacity of the brush which cause us a great impact. This series is entitled by the artist: The Flight and Golden Dawn.

The third series is known as My inner labyrinth which invites the viewer to feel liberated through the torrent of color and the undefined form. It is an audacious gesture to make painting and manifests the dialogue with the viewer. Thinking of Miguel Barceló joins this series. In this work the thematic is iconographically defined. It is a cave inspired by the work of this author, and performed with the basic means of the brush and canvas support. It inspires a regressive way from Barceló complex technique to traditional painting techniques.

Finally the painter Letayf presents the series Petra, a witness of time, which recreates the exoticism of a lost city. In this series the refined technique is shown as its main protagonist. The scale and visual play with spaces, the chromatic control and deployment of the sand technique, transport us to a legend. We experience a deep look, built from the erotic of surfaces, to the greatness of a place. Rosa Maria Letayf is a painter of fables and an enchantment of color and form.
